Copper Vessel Sinks

Copper vessel sinks originated as vessels made for bathing in ancient times, when there was no form of running water.  Modern day vessel sinks are a stylish way to design your kitchen or bathroom.

Vessel sinks are different in that they sit on top, instead of within the counter itself. Thanks to this feature, vessel sinks can be made into nearly any shape or size and used on any counter. Vessel sinks are found in a wide variety of materials such as glass and copper and can be made in an almost unlimited number of colors, textures and patterns.

One of the unique features of a  vessel sink is that you can mix and match the color with the colors already existing in your home. This provides you with an additional outlet to express yourself creatively. In fact, a copper vessel sink may look modern but blends perfectly with traditional and antique decor, providing you with many more choices than with commonly used sinks.

One thing you do need to take into consideration when incorporating a vessel sink into your existing decor is whether the plumbing will be able to accomodate the vessel sink. Counters for vessel sinks need to be a bit lower in height, since the sink sits on top of the counter and is not recessed. The existing plumbing may need some minor adjusting as well. If you have concerns about modifying your plumbing or counter, you can find  vessel sinks that are made in a much shallower depth and may not require any accomodation in order to be functional.

Another facet of the versatility of vessel sinks is the amount of style they can add to ordinary decor. This means that you can add a unique look to your home, even if your budget is limited. The addition of a vessel sink draws the eye away from the ordinary to the extraordinary.

The final thing to consider is that vessel sinks are much more shallow than recessed sinks and the flow of water should always fall directly into the center of the sink to prevent splashing. The plumbing can be installed into the wall, rather than the cabinetry, creating a unique waterfall style design. There's no end to the versatility of using vessel sinks and they open up a whole new world of creativity in kitchen and bath design.

  1. Hello,

Copper is a material that is constantly reacting to its environment. Copper sinks also have a unique antibacterial advantage. Copper is actually more sanitary that any other sink material. Bacteria are only shown to live for a few hours on a copper sink. Thanks a lot...
